NEWS & UPDATES ARCHIVE #1
My grateful thanks go to Big D for sending me this info Big D: Hi Kit the game is $29.99 at most stores you can get it line from www.playcentric.com for $26.84 and posted to the UK for $3.99. And as the GBA has no Region lock it will play on any GBA. I am waiting for it to be arrive then I will take a day off work and have me some fun. You can get the game in most stores but look around for a good price in postage as I found it varied from $3.99 to $19.99 ----
With thanks to the guys n gals at E2E for the info! Yes worry and fret yourselves no more for the long (emphasis on long) awaited Eds game for the Gameboy Advance entitled JAWBREAKERS is finally on release and - if its not there already - should be landing in your stores very soon. To be honest though it might be best to telephone before you set out to buy it at this point. Unfortunately as I'm in the UK and those who have it so far are in the US I'm unable to say how much the game costs so if anyone wants to enlighten me and also say where they got it from that would be great. Fancy contributing to the site? There are a couple of ways you can do this. Write a review of the game, what you did or didn't like about it (no heavy spoilers in the form of hints or cheats in the reviews please If you have completed the game you can send in your hints and tips, level walk-throughs whatever. If you're doing this please bear in mind that others may not be as familiar with the GBA as you are so please make your hints n tips clear and concise. I would greatly appreciate it if you check spellings too - thanks. Its really great to see the Eds getting some merchandise on the shelves at last. Let's hope the game sells well and pushes their popularity rating which in turn may nudge CN into making more merchandise ... we can but hope! ----
From all Eds fans everywhere I'm sure that Ed, Edd n Eddy fanatics and indeed animation fans everywhere will join me in wishing Danny Antonucci a very happy birthday. Danny's unique approach and inimitable style have made him a force to be reckoned with and one that you just can't ignore. So many happy returns Danny - hope you get a chance to kick back and enjoy your day. Cheers to you and aka for sharing your wonderful talents with us all ----
Thanks to JazMan for this one. Now this seriously bites! According to Jaz its official, CN already making us wait a long time for fresh eps has now announced that the next premieres will not be until November 7 As Jaz notes, this means the entire eds series will have a 'release span' of around 5 years if the new shows are not released en bloc but carry over into 2004 ... true true, good things come to he that waits but hey c'mon, so does grey hair ----
As told to me by various e- mailers Again its something that we seem to have been waiting for since the last ice age went west but now, if the hype is to be believed the new GBA featuring the Eds is due to slide into your stores round about 28 March. Please - to avoid disappointment check out online or call your local store before you make a special trip to the mall - and if it does by some miracle make it to the shelves and not get pushed back again then please pass on the good tidings here ----
Thanks go to Paul/Star Guy for the head's up Okay, since its on CN's site I feel I can put this on the Eddzone at last. I've actually been sitting on the list of titles etc since my visit to aka last Autumn but thought it might be best not to incur CN's wrath and speak too soon ... anyway here we go at last with the full list of remaining season 4 shows. Remember you saw it here first ... well second. As yet there doesn't appear to be any release date information but hopefully it won't be too long. WARNING: Spoilers abound so if you want to keep the surprise look away now! ED OVERBOARD: Edd n Eddy must turn to the Urban Rangers for help after the Kanker Sisters kidnap Ed ONE OF THOSE EDS: everyone in the neighbourhood competes to be the first to retrieve a quarter that's stuck on the sidewalk THEY CALL HIM MR ED: the Eds spend the day attempting to move up in the world FOR THE ED BY THE ED: when Plank is nominated Plank to be king of the cul-de-sac, Eddy runs an election campaign against him LITTLE ED BLUE: Eddy n Edd are driven to the brink when Ed suddenly becomes uncharacteristically bitter and bad-tempered A TWIST OF ED: Edd convinces Ed n Eddy that they can turn the Kanker sisters off them for good if they pursue them romantically THE GOOD OLE ED: the Eds reminisce about past exploits when Edd decides to make and fill a time capsule YOUR ED HERE: Eddy is horrified when the cul-de-sac finds out his middle name is Skipper THICK AS AN ED: Eddy is caught in the middle when Ed n Edd fight over Ed's smelly Jacket SORRY WRONG ED: the Eds fall foul of Rolf's cursed telephone STUCK IN ED: Eddy has a bad case of scam block and is reduced to asking Jimmy for advice A CASE OF ED: after browsing through a medical textbook, Edd becomes convinced he has the symptoms of a terminal disease ROBBIN ED: Eddy swears revenge when a mysterious masked stranger ruins his latest scams STIFF UPPER ED: the Eds are refused entrance to Sarah n Jimmys' exclusive club so Eddy decides to out-rich the snobby membership POSTCARDS FROM THE ED: when Plank's parents visit the cul-de-sac Eddy sees it as a chance to show them around - for cash! Seen THOSE shorts? Wanna see 'em again? Everyone's talking about those wonderful little Eds shorts that have been airing on Cartoon Network - you know the ones I'm talking about, both the earlier 'My Best Friend Plank' and the latest offering 'I'm Not Coming In' featuring Sarah and her dolls house of doom. Fortunately for those in areas where the movies haven't yet been shown - and of course for anyone who'd just like to have them on their own computer hard drive - both movies are available to download from Filmtecknarna.com the Swedish company responsible for them. Hope that's put a smile on your faces----
It's getting close to that time of year again and so here's your cue to send in your pictures etc in honour of Danny's birthday on Feb 27 Usual format for artwork please - that is jpg as first choice then gif, (bmps only as absolute last resort!) Please also bear in mind that if you are using Paint from the Windows OS that if I have to downsize your picture then any text etc may become hard to read, thus it might be an idea to jot down anything you want to say separately and I can put it underneath your pic Send stuff as usual to the usual address and please put DANNY'S BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE in the subject line so that I will be able to give it prompt attention and get it onto the birthday page. Closing date will be around 25/26 Feb depending how far on schedule As we are getting closer n closer to the season 4 finale I hope as many people as possible will want to take part in this and show Danny how much they've enjoyed his show so let's show him what we can do. ----
As we all know there's a chronic shortage of Eds merchandise on the shelves, especially compared to many other shows. One of the major requests - I get asked about it plenty of times myself - is for the shows in DVD and VHS format, and of course clothing, plushies and so on Online petitions are often deemed a waste of time because they are easy to forge but to my mind they may still be of use in drawing attention to what we want when coupled with snail mail letters to CN, so with this in mind here's the link to http://www.petitiononline.com/ecnarf37/petition.html for more merchandise that the has been recently started by Daniel . Please take a look if you can----
If you're waiting for the Eds GBA then it looks like the wait is almost over! About 18 months ago I received an email from a guy at Crave Entertainment who had been on theEddZone and was interested in any views on Eds GBA format, Crave having just procured the official license from CN. I passed him on to Danny n aka and kind of thought it had all gone quiet but happily it looks like they came up trumps in the endAccording to the blurb on http://www.Gamezone.com The game will mirror Ed, Edd and Eddy's television quest to make money to buy delicious jawbreakers. The object of the game is to help these resourceful adolescents win a contest whose grand prize is, of course, a lifetime supply of jawbreakers! Throughout the game, Ed, Edd and Eddy will tap into their unique brand of resourcefulness as they earn money, solve physical puzzles, interact with their pals from the cul-de-sac and find hidden goodies. The players will control one Ed at a time, each with his own unique strength and weakness, and may dynamically cycle through the three main characters. Players will explore 12 levels, each offering a short animated cut-scene at the beginning and end.' This concurs with Danny's own description of the game Gamezone also says its out 12/2/02 though if that's so then its slipped out real quietly. If you want it, it might be worth ringing the store before you set out. Got it? Review it! If you have a copy of the game and want to do a review for the Eddzone then please do so. However, if you complete the game please send any walk-thrus, tips etc in a separate mail than your regular reviews (just so you don't spoil everyone's fun please.) ----
If you purchase the Powerpuff Girls Movie in DVD format be sure to check out the 'special features - game trailers section' as there is reputed to be a trailer for the (hopefully) soon to be released Eds venture on Gameboy Advance hiding in there This currently applies to the US only as the movie was only released in the UK in October. With a bit of luck though we'll see the game in the shops before we much longer. Obviously these were captured several months back and the game may have been altered/improved since then but as a taster they're - to paraphrase Eddy himself - sweet! ----
I admit I've known this for quite a while now but Rach being the modest little chickadee she is, didn't want it spread around but Mike has let the cat outta the bag in the Earth to Edd forum so now I can say it - a very big congratulations to Rach for becoming the newest member of Eds co-writer Mike Kubat's a cartoon company 'Duck You Sucker Productions'! Rach has done many fics and pictures of the Eds together with her own characters over the past couple of years and will soon be working on such DYS delights as 'Chicken Rad ReDuxe' as well as her own 'toon 'At Least we're Normal' (and you can of course see her early work here on the 'Zone and check out her site Tooncandy.com) Just goes to show what you can achieve when you follow your star huh? I hope everyone will join me in wishing Rach all the very best in her future career.----
Amazing though it may feel, the UK has finally caught up with the US on the matter of episodes (at least for a little while) when as good as its word Cartoon Network UK coughed up all the remaining season 3 shows and then pulled out all the stops to roll out the first section of season 4 too. All the new shows have gone into regular circulation after the great Nov 16th Edd Ache marathon so keep your eyes open A word of warning though, as usual CN UK has split the eps up so they rarely come with their correct 'other half' - still ace though ----
As spotted on CN's schedule Hmmm yes, well as we all know CN's schedule is a bit of a law unto itself but if its to be believed its telling us right now that S4 eps 'Pain in the Ed / One Size Fits Ed' will premiere 22 Nov - check your own schedules nearer the date just to be sure. ----
I'm sorry to report that my friend Jazman has had to close his excellent site Eddy's Realm after Geocities suffered from the unwanted attention of some hackers. Hopefully Jaz will be able to get the Realm up and running again in the future, until then it will be sadly missed. ----
As spoken of at a.k.a. Remember the late-lamented EEE Gameboy 'Junkyard scramble' that never was? Well fingers crossed this time around its for real! The Eds game for Nintendo Gameboy Advance is well into the production process although it has yet to be given a proper title. Reports from Danny are encouraging, his boys have got a kick out of testing the game and it sounds like a lot of fun! More news as and when. ----
The amazing a.k.a. aftermath! What can I say about my trip to Vancouver except that I loved every minute of it. Danny and everyone there were kindness (and madness) itself and I've learned so much about the industry. ----
Let 'em roll! At long last CN UK has released more episodes from the much-anticipated second half of season 3. Currently you can see them at 6pm daily (7pm on CN+1) hopefully these new shows will go into general circulation soon. ----
Please don't forget that I'll be away from 28 Sept till 10 Oct so there will be no updates until at least a few days after my return. This is especially relevant if you are waiting for authorisation onto the new message board - please don't think I've forgotten/ignored you, as soon as I'm back in the swing I'll catch up. ----
As seen over on EzBoard as of NOW the old Earth to Edd message board is defunct and a new version of 'Earth to Edd' has been born over on EZboard. Everybody is of course welcome to take part but please note that in order to do so you will need to first get a free account with EZboard and then apply directly at the Earth to Edd board for membership. Please DO NOT email me for the password to the new board because there isn't one. The way it works is that once you have applied online at the actual board to become a member, EZboard sends my account a message so that I know there are people waiting to join. As soon as I authorise your name you're away - easy! However, if you want to email me to tell me to expect your application (for instance if you are new to the board or going to use a different nic to the one I've come to recognise you as) then of course feel free NOTE: Please remember I'm out of the country 28/9 till 10/10 so no new applications will be approved during that time. ----
As seen on CN UK -Cartoon Network UK is currently running a terrific looking ad teaser for the launch of the rest of season 3 - the ad ends in 'coming soon' more detail of exactly HOW soon as soon as I get 'em ----
(Thanks to Patricia) Patricia has spotted Ed, Edd n Eddy and other Cartoon Cartoons n Ice Screamers (popsicles) boxes. They have trading cards inside the boxes and a special code to get CToons on Cartoon Orbit. ----
Remember me asking you to vote for Mike's shows Chicken Rad & Awesome Earl in the Animation Magazine's post Pitch Party poll (try saying that after 2 glasses on Eddy's En-O-Gee drink)? Well its paid off for Chicken Rad has come first as voters choice for what they'd like to watch on a Saturday morning and Awesome Earl has tied for 4th place. Congrats to Mike, Dan and DYS! -
As plotted by John and a.k.a! Everyone likes surprises and I just got a fantastic one - my husband has been plotting behind my back together with my penpal in Buffalo, NY to the effect that on 28 Sept I fly out to spend 8 days with her. What's all this got to do with Ed, Edd n Eddy? Well only that he's been plotting with a.k.a. too and right after Buffalo I'm off to Vancouver for a couple of days to visit the home of the Eds and of course the a.k.a. offices - what an honour, I'm so excited I can hardly wait! ----
Spotted by Kieran & Nadia at Tesco! Hot foot it down to the local supermarket and scan the cereal aisle for Kelloggs packets. We found the Eds on a box of Honey Loops. Inside the box we found a 'tag' a bit like a luggage label made from moulded plastic. We were lucky as we got the Eds one right away - it has the boys all wearing sunshades. There is a UV panel on the tag which says 'Ed Heads' when exposed to sunlight - Cool. BE WARNED: the tags are put in at random so you might not get the Eds but one of the other Cartoon Cartoon characters (Powerpuffs, Time Squad, Cow & Chicken, Courage, Johnny Bravo etc) instead in either UV or heat activated tags but if you're unlucky don't despair, try asking your friends if they have any swaps. ----
Spotted by Mike Kubat and verified by Double T! Not tags this time around but stickers which you can bung in the corner of a notebook to make into a nifty little flick book! By the pack it seems its a scene from the Eds opening titles. As with the UK, there is a drawback though in that you might not get the Eds but one of the other toons in the promo such as Weasel, Courage, Dexter etc. Still, you have a 1 in 8 chance of getting lucky and now schools back plenty of chance to swap with friends ^^. ----
As spotted by Jazman and seen on CCF at Toonzone More new shows for the Stateside fans, the long-awaited 'See No Ed/An Ed in the Bush' will air on Fri 9/27 at 10:00pm. Following this, according to the sources 'Is There an Ed in the House/ An Ed is born will' air 11/1 again at 10:00pm ----
Better late than never - following today's premiere of 'Eds or Tails / Boys Will be Eds' Cartoon Network UK has mentioned that new episodes of the Eds will air in October - watch this space ----
Have you seen it yet? If not keep your eyes open on Cartoon Network (USA) for the retro-looking, nostagia-soaked, altogether classic 'My Best Friend Plank' musical trailer/ad. Can't get enough of that blank Plank stare? Check out the dedicated page on the Eddzone ----
As spotted on CN-UK schedule. Set those VCRs for at 12 noon Tuesday 27 August CN-UK is showing 'Boys Will be Eds' and 'Eds or Tails' as part of their 'sneak a peek week'. Keep your ears n eyes open for any more news as to season 3's second half. ----
Congratulations to Eds -co-writer Mike Kubat and his company Duck Your Sucker for attaining 3rd place in a hotly contested printed pitches contest judged by top talent scouts. The contest, organised by Animation Magazine now has an on-line poll where you can vote for your favourite new show so please give Mike your votes and click on either 'Chicken Rad' (the 3rd place winner) or his other excellent show 'Awesome Earl' both are situated towards the end of the polling form. Cheers! ----
Wow a miracle! I spotted this one myself! Remember a few years back when Kraft Dairylea Lunchables did a special promotion with Eds flip-discs? Well now they're running another Eds promo and this time inside the box are a wee packet of sponge-on transfers! Go get em while they're still in stock! I spotted them in Safeway but check out other supermarkets too! ----
Thanks to Vulcan Princess's pal for this one: 'I'm not sure if this is old news or not but even if it is then its worth bringing to your attention again. Trot down to the candy store and get yourself some Jelly Belly jellybeans in ... yep Ed's favourite Buttered toast flavour!' ----
Thanks to Rebecca at a.k.a. for the following press release details: 'The Ed, Edd n Eddy episode An Ed Is Born will be among the programs screened as part of "Cartoon POWER! Celebrating Cartoon Network's 9 3/4 Birthday at the New York Museum of Television and Radio this summer. Cartoon POWER! will include original artwork and conceptual drawings from a.k.a. Cartoon Inc. The exhibit runs from June 14th - September 15th 2002 Daytime screenings of An Ed Is Born will take place as part of Friends and Foes August 13th - 25th, Tuesday - Sunday at 1:00 pm. For more information about the exhibit check out the museum's web site Ed, Edd n Eddy is produced by award-winning Vancouver based production company a.k.a. Cartoon Inc., located in the jungles of British Columbia, whose eight-year reign of original programming has left an imprint on the butt of America.' ----
Thanks to Edd's Angel for this one: Apparently Eds visors are on-sale at Walmart ----
Thanks to Jazman for this one: Stateside, season 3 is coming to an end but for some reason the episode 'See no Ed' which forms part of season 3 and has already aired in the UK has been pushed back and is now part of season 4. Therefore a season 4 episode will air in its place towards the end of June (check your schedules). After 12 July it would appear that no new shows are premiering until Autumn, possibly late Autumn but more news as and when we get it. ----
Thanks to Jazman /Galaxia for this one Is the long wait finally over? Fingers crossed that it is for news that Eds Game is now apparently OFFICIAL for release on GBA (game boy advance) for Sept 2002. I'll bring up more news as n when ----
Thanks to Tammy for this one: Want to look cool at the pool or a peach on the beach? (sorry) Take a trip to Walmart then for rumour has it that within its hallowed halls they are selling Eds towels for $4.99 and as if that wasn't good enough, these are the same towels currently selling on-line for $20 - whoo hoo. Go! ----
Thanks to Galaxia for the heads-up Take a stroll down to your local news stand and pick up the latest 'Cartoon Cartoons' comicbook as the Eds are starring in another great strip, this time around they find themselves receiving a surprise love letter but naturally none of them want it! ----
Forget trainspotting, seen the Eds someplace outside of CN ? Then tell the world here! Meg: In the movie Crazy/ Beautiful, Kirsten Dunst (she's the girl in the movie, right?) She turns on the TV at the very beginning, and what should pop up? Ed, Edd n Eddy! EppsX4: On Greg the bunny where Greg feels bad about Rochester Jimmy wears an official Ed,Edd n Eddy T-shirt (see also Ed Spotting Dec 2001 below) ----
Thanks to Jazman for the heads-up: The first vague details for season 4 are starting to come through at last and the Eds first ever 2 parter (2 x 11 mins) is on its way. More news as n when, it looks to be a terrific last season for the boys. No news for the remaining season 3 episodes to be released in the UK/Europe though ----
Thanks to Rebecca at a.k.a. for the following press release details: 'Vancouver-based a.k.a. Cartoon Inc.'s Ed Edd n Eddy was Cartoon Network's most-watched original telecast 2002-to-date among kids 9-14 and households, during Cartoon Cartoon Fridays, CN's five-hour prime time viewing block of all-original cartoons. Cartoon Cartoon Fridays led the network to the #1 position in its time period (April 12, 7pm - 12 am) over all television, cable and broadcast, with its target audience of kids 6-11 and 2-11. The franchise earned double-digit ratings and delivery increases across the board. Ed, Edd n Eddy earned highest marks, with a new series record for best ratings & delivery EVER with kids 2-11, highest delivery ever with kids 6-11 and households, and highest 6-11 delivery of ANY Cartoon Network original so far this year. Ed, Edd n Eddy is translated into 9 languages (including British Sign Language) and is seen in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and both North and South America' ----
SEASON 3: The U.S. has seen all of the Eds third season bar a couple of shows which hopefully will turn up soon, no announcements have surfaced yet in the U.K ./ Europe as to when the second half on season 3 will be aired -watch this space SEASON 4: It is thought that Stateside at least Season 4 - the Eds last - should start to emerge round about late Autumn 2002, possibly November although again details are sketchy at present ----
Many thanks to Ruth at a.k.a. for finding this out for me. Following on from Danny's remarks below, we fans of the Eds can go a long way in persuading Cartoon Network and its associates that there is a hungry market for merchandise out there. Indeed I have heard that it was with the help of a small group of loyal fans alone that an extra footage Batman DVD was recently released into circulation. With this in mind we can go a long way towards illustrating to the merchandising people that we want Eds stuff So, if you want to do your bit and let the people in power know that you'd love the Eds on DVD, lunchboxes, boxers, plushies, beanies or what have you then here's who to address your -polite - demands too Jaimie Porges, (V.P.Off Channel Commerce) Cartoon Network 1050 Techwood Drive Georgia 30318 USA If picking up a pen n paper isn't your thing, alternatively you can send an email to jaimie.porges@turner.com NOTE: This address is also the main point of contact to request/suggest that the Eds appear in a feature length episode. You can also try hassling (in the nicest possible way please, Warner Bros themselves. Their Warner Bros stores have now moved to exclusivelydealing with online merchandising, and the following is a quote from Warners website itself: 'We hope you will find the items you are looking for on WBShop.com, and if not, please let us know what you are looking for as we are constantly expanding our product selection. If you have a question about items available at WBshop.com (for example, will we be carrying a particular item in the on-line shop please send e-mail to ItemSelection@WBShop.com There you go, see? They WANT our suggestions - what are you waiting for? ----
Danny posted this on the message board on Xmas Eve, here are his words again if you missed out first time around: 'Just want to wish you all a happy holiday, and a BIG thanks for all the kind words, the great fan sites and support you have and continue to show for my boys. 'As some of you know, Ed, Edd n Eddy will end production of new episodes after 4th season. This isn't a bad thing, as I have always planned it on being this way. EEE is doing very well around the world, thanks to you. Top 3 in the US, #1 and Top 5 over all programming in the UK. It's just that the last thing I'd want to do is compromise the quality of the show. EEE is a very difficult show to make and unlike other shows each episode is pretty much hand made. Something I, and the artists who work on my show are proud of. This process is a very traditional one: With Multi-layered characters to write for (just Jono writing the scenarios and me writing all the dialogue), hand drawn, detailed storyboards, fully animated (NO SHORT CUTS!) hand finished, hand painted on Cel and hand shot on film, edited and dubbed onto a digital tape for Cartoon Network to air and for all you to enjoy. We are a small band of artists who love their craft, and a.k.a.Cartoon is not a corporate animation & so we're all kinda of pooped. There may be some special projects in the future with Ed, Edd n Eddy, an hour special or maybe a feature ( I'd love to do an EEE movie!) who knows...it all up to the big wigs at CN to make that happen. Although we have had another Christmas go by without EEE merchandise, I have been assured things will look up in this area. Believe me I'm on the folks at CN everyday about this. So I highly recommend you write the folks at CN and at Warners (Warners are usually behind all the merchandising decisions) and let them know that you want EEE merchandise. They really do listen to you. I hope you all enjoy the remaining shows. The 4th season will be a lot of fun and with some surprises too. The last show 'll just kill ya! No new characters will be introduced and no Adults! Just Ed, Edd n Eddy and the rest of the gang in the cul-de sac. Thanks again, especially to Kit for all her hard work. Cheers ... Danny Antonucci' ----
If you are still using the old aka@intergate.ca email address for a.k.a and wondering why it comes a bouncy-bouncin' back to you then fret no more because here's their new address valid as of NOW: yak@akacartoon.com Please use this address - AND ONLY THIS ADDRESS for all fanmail to Danny n Co. Obviously I can't personally assure you that you will receive a personal reply, after all a.k.a. is always frantically busy but I can assure you that your mail will be read. Don't send them forwards, circulars, or stupid/unreasonable requests - that's an easy way to get yourself blocked. If you prefer to mail via me that's fine, I'm always happy to pass stuff along. ----
(sigh)Wouldn't it be nice to update this one more regularly? A constant bone of contention this one as again and again the same point is raised, namely why isn't there any Eds stuff in the shops? Well of course in actual fact there is, its just there's not very much of it and there never has been which although on one hand is sublimely comforting as it says that our favourite cartoon is not suffering from mind-numbing, money-grubbing over-exposure, is also incredibly frustrating when the stores are filled with every kind of cartoon character you could possibly imagine posing on lunch boxes, ski hats, stationery sets or sitting on the shelves as plushies, beanies and action figures etc ... except it appears for the Eds. Of course the tide may turn - indeed in Danny's message above it certainly looks hopeful - and the Eds may have their merchandising day in the sun but currently its happening very slowly and the Jawbreakers (there's an item crying out for Eds promotion!) & other goodies we're all dying to get our sticky mitts on will take some tracking down. PLACES WORTH CHECKING OUT: So where do you look for Eds merchandise? A good place would of course be the local mall or else Cartoon Network / Warner Bros online. CN also has a good on-line store which occasionally throws up such delights as Eds posters, caps n T-shirts and while you're on-line it might be worth checking up on Ebay too as all sorts of rarities pop up there from press kits to gumball machines - cool, if a bit pricey! And then of course there's Walmart if you're in the States - both T-shirts and hats have been spotted within, and finally there's events such as collectors fairs /conventions - good for animation cels and comic books STUFF SEEN SO FAR: Other things cropping up from time to time include COMIC BOOKS : check out local news-stand for monthly (which replaced the older-style Cartoon Network comic back in spring and now occasionally features an Ed comic strip. Also COLOURING /TATTOO BOOKS : readily available in many outlets - Walmart, Shopko etc and costing around $4. Some variation available - such as Eds, PPGs, Courage, Cow n Chicken in a selection of pictures to colouring plus temporary tattoos to adorn books, lockers or of course yourself! GREETINGS CARDs : these kicked off on Valentines day in Walmart etc but hopefully other festive occasions will follow suite. Unfortunately, the GAMEBOY platformer Junkyard Scramble which was pulled from release at short notice after problems with the engine almost 2 years ago seems to have died a quiet death. However with Gameboy Advance still going strong perhaps we can keep our fingers crossed for something there - indeed it seems hardly fair that PPG, Dexter etc get their own GBA platformers while the popular Eds are overlooked - watch this space as I'm keeping my fingers crossed we might still see an Eds game one day ----
Forget trainspotting, seen the Eds someplace outside of CN ? Then tell the world here! Damon: has mentioned Disney's the Kid movie - there's a scene with the Eds popping up on TV Double T Industries: has spotted them in poster and T-Shirt format on Undressed a show on MTV Jazman: tells of not a sighting but a hearing, in ATL, we have a radio station, WKLS Clear Channel Worldwide. They do radio ads, and contests using clips from shows. Anyway, they are doing a contest to win 1,000,000 dollars. During one of the ads, it had a clip of Eddy saying Were gonna be Rich! ----

Thanks to Rebecca at a.k.a. for the following press release details: 'On April 1st 1994, maverick animator Danny Antonucci flung open the doors of a.k.a. Cartoon in Gastown, Vancouver B.C. Seven years and a string of prizewinning productions later a.k.a. is still slinging lead. Antonucci, whose credo has always been f*** Disney and his goddamn mouse made a name for his Vancouver shop in its first year with a series of forty-five seven minute episodes of The Brothers Grunt for MTV Network in New York. a.k.a. also created a number of award winning commercials for Converse, ESPN, MTV and Levi's to name a few. Previously, Danny established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the animation world with the creation of the notorious 3 minute short Lupo the Butcher in 1986. Lupo gathered a substantial cult following: the film has been shown at film festivals around the world and literally helped create the market for an entirely new genre, today's enormously popular animation festivals. Lupo has garnered countless awards, and its impact hasnıt been limited to cartoon circles - for two years the short film closed Guns n Roses touring show. In 1998 Danny and the folks at a.k.a. Cartoon had another flash of inspiration - a kids show about a trio of pubescent boys with nothing in common but their name and an overwhelming lust for jawbreakers. Ed, Edd n Eddy struck a major chord with their search for acceptance and their never ending supply of not-so-successful scams. This wildly popular television series is now beginning its 4th season. Ed, Edd n Eddy achieved success abroad before gaining recognition at home. The series sold and aired to AOL/Time Warnerıs worldwide Cartoon Network. Already a hit in the US and Europe, Ed, Edd n Eddy finally debuted on Canada's Teletoon Network in September 1999. In 1999 and 2000 EEE was the number one show on Cartoon Network UK, and during a recent Ed, Edd n Eddy Marathon on Cartoon Network USA a total of 9.9 million different persons tuned in to watch. Ed, Edd n Eddy continues to break ratings records for Cartoon Network. Ed, Edd n Eddy is translated into 9 languages (including British Sign Language) and is seen in Europe, Africa, Asia, the Middle East and both North and South America. The series has won several prestigious awards, including the US-based National Cartoonists Societyıs coveted Reuben Award for & Best Television Animation and the 2000 Leo Award for Best Director of an Animated Production (Danny Antonucc.)i Named One of the 15 most successful Canadian television production companies in the December 2000 issue of Animation Magazine, a.k.a. Cartoon is known internationally as a quality shop that offers cutting-edge creativity. Danny Antonucci was listed among Animation Magazines Auteurs who have had an impact on animation during the past 15 years alongside artists such as Tim Burton and Matt Groening. Antonucci, despite his renegade reputation, is described as a corrosively honest and loyal manager with old-fashioned values; and a.k.a. is a studio where artists are expected to play a key role in the development of the show. At a.k.a. we live by the motto, forget what youıve done, and give me everything you always wanted to do From day one a.k.a. Cartoon has been committed to producing cutting edge original work. We have refused to turn into a service house. We don't churn out crap for someone else. We pride ourselves on original artwork and concepts. We don't compromise. Animation is a handmade art form, invoking soul. Classical animation is about being proud of human error. a.k.a. Cartoon currently employs a full time equivalent staff roster of 50, including more than 40 artists, a 250% increase in staff during the last 5 years. What's next for the a.k.a. Crew? Currently devoted to making Ed, Edd n Eddy, artists are also encouraged to work on their own original ideas to be developed as new series in the future. There are feature-length animated projects in the works, including one starring Lupo and his family. And a.k.a. is re-entering the world of commercials. I still love working on commercials, I never want to go away from them entirely. says Antonucci. It's still animation, it's still filmmaking, and I love that. Check out a.k.a's numerous internet fan sites, including the fabulous, funny and comprehensive Eddzone and the Brothers Grunt.'
