NEWS & UPDATES ARCHIVE #3
Brand-New Ed, Edd n Eddy Holiday Special to Premiere on Friday, Dec. 3, at 8 p.m. (ET, PT) Ed, Edd n Eddy will venture out of its usual "summer in the cul-de-sac" and into the snow-covered streets with its first-ever 30-minute holiday special, Ed, Edd n Eddy's Jingle, Jingle, Jangle. The special will premiere Friday Dec. 3 at 8 p.m. (ET/ PT) with re-runs on Wednesday Dec. 15 at 8 p.m. (ET/ PT) Wednesday Dec. 22 at 9 a.m. (ET, PT) and 8:30 p.m. (ET/ PT) Friday Dec. 24 at 12 p.m. (ET/ PT) Saturday, Dec. 25, at 12 p.m. and 9 p.m. (ET, PT) Eddy's Christmas is in jeopardy after he finds his presents in the attic and they all stink. Edd and Ed try to tell Eddy that the true meaning of Christmas comes from the heart and not just the presents you get. But Eddy refuses to believe it. He hatches a plan to get adopted into somebody else's family to cash in on their gifts. Barging in on one friend's home after another, he witnesses how each family celebrates the holiday in their own, unique way. Eddy eventually discovers an unexpected, deeper meaning all by himself. Ed, Edd n Eddy, an original, half-hour series from creator and executive producer Danny Antonucci, tells the story of three best friends who have the same first name and live on the same cul-de-sac in the suburbs. But the three boys' personalities are as different as they are ridiculous. The Eds are driven by their constant quest for money, which they plan to spend on life's finer things, like jawbreakers. Bolstered by the power of adolescent ignorance, Ed (the tall, gullible one), Edd (the smart, polite one) and Eddy (the resident entrepreneur and unofficial leader) plunge headlong into outlandish adventures that would be unbelievable if they weren't so close to every child's real life. Ed, Edd n Eddy is produced by Antonucci at aka Cartoons in Vancouver. Cartoon Network recently announced that it gave the green light for 26 additional episodes and two 30-minute holiday specials for Valentine's Day and Halloween that will air in 2005. Ohh you lucky sausages, not only do you get 'Take this Ed & Shove it' on Nov 5th but a month later on December 3rd you get the first of the long awaited half hour specials in the shape of the festive-flavoured 'Jingle Jingle Jangle' how's that for an early Christmas present?
Set those videos guys as you finally get your chance to see the US premiere of this episode on November 5th at 9pm (check schedule for exact timings)
Cartoon Network UK came up with a treat for the end of summer vacation with the surprise showing of 'Take This Ed and Shove it' - Season 4's finale! This has now been uploaded onto the episode guides section but please remember that it means very heavy spoilers so if you want to keep the ep fresh until you see it then just don't go there. What this means is that all of the Season 4 shows have now been aired in the U.K. so the next new EEnE will be one of the 3 specials. Hopefully 'Shove' will go into general broadcast circulation and turn up again soon if you missed it. NOTE: unfortunately at this point in time I have no idea when 'Take This Ed and Shove It' will air in the USA. Obviously as soon as I do hear something I will make an announcement.
Check out the latest issue on CN's magazine now, not only does it contain an Eds comic strip but also a Cartoon Cartoons DVD containing a mix of CN favourites including the 'Fool on the Ed' episode! EDIT: this issue has now been replaced by the latest issue, you may still be able to find an old copy though!
Its been brought to my attention that a certain popular TV website has recently posted a couple of articles that are causing both excitement and confusion amongst EEnE fans (at least if my mailbox is anything to go by) and so here I am hoping to clarify the situation. One article reports an apparent list of episode titles and synopses for the up n coming Season Five. I have been reliably informed by aka cartoon that 'every letter of it completely false'. These are neither the titles or plot outlines for the fifth season. The second article gives details of an Eds movie called 'Scam Block' which is supposed to air in 2007. Again, the word from the horse's mouth is that this is absolute rubbish. There are no plans for a movie at present.I've had a lot of very excited mails on this subject and its annoying to think that someone has obviously made these articles up in order to raise false hope and speculation. I 'm also sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but better you know the truth, huh guys?
Guess what? Ed, Edd n Eddy has made it into the '90's' edition of the ever-popular 'Trivial Pursuit' game. Question: What animated TV show features three kids who hang out in a clubhouse called 'Club Ed? Answer: Ed, Edd n Eddy. Cool or what?
Skippy Peanut Butter has an Eds promotion running where sending off proof of purchase & the order from will see you getting a sheet of special EEnE tattoos back at you in the mail. (Thanks to Jonathon for the heads up!)
Huge thanks to all the people who alerted me to this. It seems CN is finally going to put some of its original programming Cartoon Cartoons out onto DVD but would appreciate some guidance as to just which of them are truly in demand. Simply click the link below you'll be taken to their official voting form. Keep those fingers crossed for us Ed-Boys! EDIT: Voting has now closed.
Is there anything you would like to ask Cartoon Network in relation to the Eds? Do you have any questions or concerns about the show? Is there any particular piece of Eds merchandise that you're craving or think would be particularly marketable? Do you have a suggestion for other Eds related matters? If you've answered yes then please mail your questions to me as soon as possible as I am currently putting together a list of fans' questions / queries which will then be hopefully put to CN itself. Please note - questions such as 'why does Ed eat junk' are not what I'm looking for & will be excluded, remember these questions are being put to CN who airs the show not to aka cartoon who create it. I appreciate this is short notice but please send your questions/ suggestions in as quickly as possible - by 19 June at the latest. EDIT: updated June 25th thanks to everyone who submitted questions and points to be raised.
It has now been confirmed that the first of the three eagerly anticipated half hour specials to hit our screens will be the Christmas -flavoured one. Entitled 'Ed, Edd n Eddy's Jingle Jingle Jangle' the show should be set to hit the screens on - you guessed it - Christmas this year!
AKA CARTOON PRESS RELEASE JUNE 8th 2004 'Canada's own A.K.A. Cartoon Inc is pleased to announce the official greenlight of a further 26 half-hour episodes of Cartoon Network's smash hit, Ed Edd n Eddy. (See attachment) The success of Vancouver based indie animator Danny Antonucci's animated series is shown in breakthrough ratings across the globe. Children and adults alike tune in regularly to the adolescent antics of the boys with very little in common spare their names and the sleepy suburban corner of America they happen to share. The cast of Ed Edd n Eddy and their many dimensions as characters are the driving force behind the show's success. The endearment felt for them by the extraordinary artists at A.K.A. Cartoon and indeed Antonucci himself is shared by loyal fans worldwide. Beer cans at the ready and caution thrown to the wind, A.K.A isn't about to slow down yet, and fans can also look forward to 3 upcoming holiday specials featuring the Ed boys, as well as the 26 brand new episodes. ' A.K.A Cartoon Inc.
Nope, no eggplant jiggery pokery is taking place Ed-Boys & I'm simply thrilled to bits to tell you that Cartoon Network has ordered two - yes two - further seasons of Ed, Edd n Eddy, that's another 26 half hour episodes in all for seasons five and six. The show has proved a great success for CN and of course this is all due to its amazingly loyal fanbase. So with three half-hour specials in the pipeline plus seasons 5 and 6 to follow the future's looking very bright down Peach Creek way! You saw it here first, Ed!
Well whaddya know the Eddzone is 5 years old today! I know I say this every year but I never dreamed it would get so large or help me get in touch with so many wonderful people from around the world both in the animation industry and fans alike. Thanks to everyone for being so encouraging and helping make the site such a fun place to run with all your contributions.
I'm thrilled to bits I got an invite but sorry to say that western England to Vancouver is just a plane/train & bus ride to far for me to attend the tenth anniversary bash! Nevertheless I'm sure every Ed, Edd n Eddy fan - plus fans of Danny's other unique brands of animation - will join me in wishing him a very happy 10th anniversary with aka cartoon and ever success in the future. Party on!
HAPPY 10th ANNIVERSARY to DANNY & AKA CARTOON! Please don't forget that aka Cartoon celebrates its 10th birthday on April Fools Day this year so to honour that I'm planning a couple of special anniversary pages and you're needed to fill them! PICTURES: Artists of all ages and ability are very welcome to submit their work just as long as it features the Eds, Grunts, Lupo etc or is dedicated to Danny & aka cartoon's work in some way. Remember pics may be resized in the final gallery.COMMENTS: everyone loves feedback so please take the time to jot down your anniversary message to Danny & Co be it a simple pat on the back, good wishes or simply to reminisce over gravy past. Remember comments may be edited if unsuitable.Incidentally, just 5 days after aka is ten years old the Eddzone celebrates its 5th birthday too - groovy!
Apologies for my lateness with this one, the press release arrived from aka while I was on vacation in Florida on 25 Feb, anyway, on with the real good stuff: 'Starting February 25th in New York, Cartoon Network enters into its annual Advertising Upfront presentations, powered by the remarkable success of Danny Antonucci's Ed, Edd n Eddy. Ed, Edd n Eddy, which premiered on Cartoon Network back in January 1999 as the first independently produced cartoon to ever grace CN's airwaves has grown into a hugely popular primetime series that continues to take the world by storm over 5 years later as once again those strapped-for-cash Ed-Boys have proved that they've got a place firmly carved in both the hearts and the ratings of audiences across America! The show is currently RANKED #1 for it's time period on basic cable, delivery and rating, for boys 6-11 and boys 2-11; and is tied for #1 in kids 2-11 rating with Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel. Ratings have shown that the Canadian-born cartoon's primetime viewers have rocketed to 38% since last year (that's a whopping 853,000 Ed-heads between the ages of 6-11 tuning in every Friday night!). More gob-smacking still is the increase of children between the ages of 2-11 tuning in; their delivery number is 1,245,000 - a stonking 34% more than the 2003 delivery! Shock-o-rama and much glee upon your eggplants eh, Ed-boys? Having just completed the 4th season of the show, Animation anarchist Danny Antonucci and his Vancouver-based studio A.K.A. Cartoon Inc are now throwing their caution and beer nuts to the wind as to their fans' delight they embark on production of three long-anticipated half-hours specials featuring the Eds at Christmas, Valentines Day & Halloween. The studio will also be celebrating its 10th anniversary of animation infamy on April Fool's Day 2004. Bloodied but unbowed, this dedicated and determined ragtag band of artists promise its ever-growing fan base that the best is yet to come. Like it or not!'
Huge thanks to everyone who let me know that something weird has been happening to a couple of the pages while I was away, notably this very news page (you're reading the new revamped version right now) and the Bunny Slippers List. I've no idea what happened here but basically the News 'fell off' altogether & 75% of the Bunny Slippers list got eaten by ghosts in the machine. I'm currently reworking the Bunny Slippers list but only have the roll of names up to number 153 on my PC. I may scrub the number system altogether but anyone who joined after #153 who wants to be reinstated please let me know. (And if by any miracle someone has the list beyond #153 please give me a shout, you'll be a hero!).
